by Nikitta Joan Varghese and Dung Doan

This experiment aimed to see how the number of COVID-19 cases varied by race between 2020 and 2022. This investigation was limited to Maryland, United States. The data was collected by the state of Maryland and made available to the public. The data set comprised information from White, African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Other people.

The Data that was provided was very confusing. Thus began our search to get this data cleaned up and find errors to debug within the data set. We began starting from scratch in Tableau. We had to go through countless YouTube videos to find what was wrong with a given data set because all we could think of was why the data set only showed us 1 and 2. It was like looking at binary code without knowing how to read binary. Tableau is software that supports data analysis and visualization, widely used in the BI (Business Intelligence) industry. Like Excel, Tableau helps aggregate data but takes it to the next level when it comes to converting this data from a series of numbers into visual images and charts.
